The Swallows Nest Project
This bright and welcoming home in the heart of Unionville, Markham, has been a labor of love since 2022, and we're thrilled to finally share it with you! Our vision for this project was to add character to a typical builder-grade house while creating a more spacious feel and bringing the outdoors in.
The kitchen, located in the center of the home, doesn’t benefit from natural light. Our goal was to transform it into a space that feels bright, fresh, and inviting. We achieved this by painting the walls white and opting for a two-tone kitchen design. The white upper cabinets help open up the space, making it feel larger and the ceilings higher, while the cherry wood base cabinets ground the room and add warmth and visual interest.
Since the kitchen lacks windows, it was important to our clients to bring elements of nature into the space. Drawing inspiration from the art in their home and their roots, we added a vibrant pop of color through the backsplash, creating a connection to the outdoors.
We kept the rest of the design understated with simple brushed nickel hardware, a sleek faucet, and a clean white quartz countertop. This allows the backsplash to truly shine as the focal point, adding both personality and warmth to the kitchen.
